DinoHunt Corporation
DinoHunt Corp. has done it again! After the massive success of the Central Sector tour, DinoHunt Corp. founder and CEO Elias Henrikson funded further exploration of his “Dinosaur Planet,” led by famed explorer Turan Choks. Choks’ expeditions led his teams to planet FMM UV-32’s polar caps, where they remarkably discovered many frozen tundras and alien beasts resembling animals from Earth’s ancient past. The ambitious Henrikson quickly expanded his efforts northward toward toward this Arctic Sector, and two years later opened DinoHunt Corp.’s Arctic Tour, where paying customers can hunt down some of the biggest and most dangerous animals in all of prehistory.
After saving up enough money to visit planet FMM UV-32’s far north, you will be thrust into the icy wastes to test your hunting skills. Welcome to the Arctic Sector.
LOCATIONS
Area 1: McRath Island
A relatively safe and open area, McRath Island was one of the first islands discovered in the Arctic Sector, and is the first island available for new hunters. Rolling hills covered in sparse vegetation and deep snowdrifts entice large herds of herbivorous animals into the open, giving new clients clean sight lines for stalking their prey. However, the open landscape gives local predators easy views as well, so stay cautious.
Mild difficulty.
Area 2: Ravaren’s Bridge
Located near the border of the Central and Arctic Sectors, Ravaren’s Bridge is unique in that it houses dinosaurs in the summer and mammals in the winter. Winter brings light snowfall to this expansive pine forest, but very little of it sticks, giving darker animals more camouflage among the trees. The infamous bridge system connects the northern and southern halves of the island, although time and the ravages of nature have currently made it inaccessible.
Mild difficulty.
Area 3: Ring of Infernus
Cut off from the mainland by a ring of extinct volcanoes, Ring of Infernus is a favorite destination for many hunters. The landscape here is bisected by the namesake ring: sparse and desolate beaches cover the eastern half, while frozen tundras and icy lakes coat the western portion. This provides hunters with the opportunity to hunt a variety of animals in a variety of habitats, or be hunted by a variety of predators.
Intermediate difficulty.
Area 4: Dry Nodus Lake
A cold, muddy swamp is all that remains of the eponymous lake in the northeast, which creates a dangerous trap for thirsty animals. Deep ice canyons and treacherous rivers cut through the already unstable terrain, claiming the lives of many hunters. Several trees in the forests of Dry Nodus Lake have been snapped in half, once thought to be the result of heavy snowfall, but now believed to be the result of a mysterious creature’s rampage.
Intermediate difficulty.
Area 5: The Giant's Boot
A treacherous island comprised of steep mountains and rocky valleys, The Giant’s Boot is reserved for only the most skilled hunters. The boot print-shaped lake resides to the east, directly across from a natural dam in the center of the island. The haunting cries of unknown creatures ring through the cold air, and many hunters have vanished into the depths of this island, making it one of the least visited places on planet FMM UV-32.
Advanced difficulty.
TROPHY ANIMALS
Brontoteriy
The massive Brontoteriy is one of the largest mammals on planet FMM UV-32, as well as one of the most intimidating. Fierce red eyes, enormous bulk and a gigantic, Y-shaped horn keep all but the most desperate predators at bay, while a shaggy coat of fur keeps the Brontoteriy quite comfortable in sub-zero temperatures. Despite its size, it is quite skittish, and makes a good challenge for beginning hunters.
Wild Boar
The gigantic wild boar of FMM UV-32 is roughly the size of an Earth bull, and is just as aggressive. These gnarly omnivores have poor senses, which keeps them on a hair trigger: ready to lash out with razor-sharp tusks at anything foolish enough to startle them. Despite their bulk, these warthog-like animals have very short fur, and prefer the warmer areas of Ravaren’s Bridge and Ring of Infernus to the snow-covered tundras.
Wolf
The enormous wolves of planet FMM UV-32 are quite vocal hunters, often filling the cold air with their bone-chilling howls. These alien canines have incredible senses and efficient night vision; the cover of darkness will not save you from a pack of hungry wolves. With bone-crushing jaws, lightning-fast reflexes, and a powerful, muscular frame, a lone wolf of the dinosaur planet could easily take on an Earth grizzly bear, so hunt with caution.
Wooly Rhinoceros
The wooly rhinoceros of FMM UV-32 is a temperamental beast, preferring to live in isolation except during the mating season or when raising calves. These brutish animals are not as large as some of the other mammals in the Arctic Sector, like Brontoteriey or mammoths, but they are aggressive, and will run down and impale anything foolish enough to be caught on the receiving end of their sharp nose horns.
Diatryma
The Diatryma is the smallest terror bird on planet FMM UV-32, but that does not lessen its ferocity. With a bone-crushing beak and huge, clawed feet, this proficient hunter can make a meal of almost anything. Compared to other predators in the sector, and even its scaly relatives in the south, the Diatryma has poor senses, which makes it cautious and a good challenge for Intermediate-rank hunters.
Megaloceros (Giant Deer)
Colloquially known as “Giant Deer,” Megaloceros is a regal beast of the frozen forests, using its massive antlers to clear away snow to get at the tough plants underneath. Stags use these sturdy antlers to challenge rivals during the mating season, and to fend off attackers who get too close. However, it is a weak and frightful animal, and DinoHunt Corp. only allows the killing and collection of male Megaloceros.
Indricotherium
One of the largest mammals on planet FMM UV-32, Indricotherium is also one of the most aggressive. These highly territorial herbivores use their enormous size to bully smaller animals out of competition for food, and their thick skin traps heat to keep them warm in cooler environments. Because its senses are so poor, Indricotherium have a difficult time distinguishing friend from foe, and will crush anything they perceive as a threat under their massive legs.
Doedicurus
The bulky Doedicurus is one of the most durable animals on planet FMM UV-32, but is also one of the slowest. While other armored animals - like Ankylosaurus of the Central Sector - sacrifice some shielding for more mobility, this herbivore’s fully armored carapace is near impenetrable at the complete cost of its speed. Despite its abysmal pace, Doedicurus’ armored hide keeps it well protected, and its spiked tail keeps all but the most desperate predators at bay.
Smilodon
Instantly recognizable thanks to its imposing saber fangs, FMM UV-32’s Smilodon is surprisingly well-adapted to hunting in polar environments. Although it prefers the warmer grasslands to the south, this big cat’s huge paws allow it to hunt with absolute silence in the snow, making it an effective ambush predator. Smilodon’s huge, saber teeth can punch through a human’s torso in a single bite, so hunt with caution.
Mammoth
Perhaps the most iconic of all the Arctic Sector animals, the Woolly Mammoth is one of the largest mammals on planet FMM UV-32. The mammoth’s enormous advantage over other mammals is its versatile trunk, which it can use to pluck food from areas no other animals can reach. Mammoths typically live in isolated family groups led by matriarchal elders, while lone bulls patrol the outskirts of the islands, keeping intruders at bay.
Hyaenodon
The scraggly Hyaenodon is the primary scavenger of the Arctic Sector, preferring to finish kills made by other, larger predators. An enormous skull packed with bone-crushing teeth enables this carnivore to devour anything on a carcass, and a powerful sense of smell helps Hyaenodon find carrion from miles away. Although Hyaenodon rarely makes a kill itself, it won’t pass up the opportunity to hunt smaller, weaker creatures, like humans.
Andrewsarchus
While Andrewsarchus isn’t the largest hunter in the Arctic Sector, it is one of the most effective. Powerful muscles and a sturdy skull operate massive jaws capable of tearing larger animals to shreds with little effort. This predator’s deep, resonating howls can put even other large carnivores on edge, as few animals on planet FMM UV-32 would dare provoke an adult Andrewsarchus.
Bear
The monstrous bear of FMM UV-32 towers over even the largest of Earth’s bears. Weighing in at almost five tons and reaching heights of nearly 20 feet on its hind legs, adult males are true forces of nature. Bears prefer the isolated mountain regions, only venturing down into the tundras in search of food. These bears do not hibernate, and with muscular paws that can decapitate a Megaloceros in a single swipe, they are to be hunted with utmost caution.
Titanis
The Titans is the fastest terror bird on planet FMM UV-32, capable of outrunning almost any creature in the Arctic Sector. Because of its lightly-built frame, it usually avoids dangerous prey and prefers to kill and eat smaller animals, like pigs. However, Titans will occasionally group together to bully other predators off their kills. This strategy often works, as nothing wants to be caught on the receiving end of this terror bird’s hooked beak.
The Yeti
A legendary creature of unknown origin, The Yeti is the ultimate predator of the Arctic Sector. Stark white fur tightly wrapped around powerful muscles provide more camouflage than warmth, as it is believed that The Yeti’s hyper-metabolism keeps its body temperature stable in these frigid environments. As such, it must constantly eat to fuel its internal furnace, and this mysterious predator will not hesitate to devour anything unfortunate enough to get in its way.
NON-TROPHY ANIMALS
These animals are not dangerous and cannot be hunted for trophies or score.
Archaeopteryx
The tiny Archaeopteryx is one of the less dangerous birds inhabiting the frigid Arctic Sector. Pterosaurs are a rare sight in these cold skies, so the Archaeopteryx takes advantage of their roles instead, kept warm with the feathers that pterosaurs lack. Because small food sources are also rare, Archaeopteryx often scavenges from carrion, since frozen corpses last long after death in these low temperatures.
Pig
One of the few non-trophy animals living in the frigid Arctic Sector, pigs are an extremely abundant food source for many predators. Thick fat reserves allow pigs to remain well-sustained in these cold areas, and despite constant predation, their numbers remain high. It is believed by many publications that these animals are not native to FMM UV-32, instead introduced by DinoHunt Corp. to provide easy food sources that lure elusive predators into the open for paying clients, although DinoHunt Corp. adamantly denies these claims.
WEAPONS
9mm Pistol
The fast-firing DinoHunt 9mm pistol is excellent in a close-combat situation, but its accuracy steeply declines with range, often limiting it to a last resort weapon. The 9mm pistol will scare herbivores but may attract the larger carnivores, who have learned to associate gunshot sounds with an easy meal.
Pump-Action Shotgun
The DinoHunt pump-action shotgun is a very powerful weapon. Because it uses a heavy, specialized DinoHunt-brand buckshot, its damage decreases dramatically over long distances. This weapon is also very loud, and the noise may attract hungry carnivores, so use cautiously or be prepared to fight.
Double-Barreled Shotgun
This powerful shotgun can fire two rounds almost simultaneously, allowing careful hunters an extra shot before reloading. However, as with the pump-action shotgun, the double-barrel variant is extremely loud, which can cause skittish herbivores to flee or hungry carnivores to begin hunting.
X-Bow
This DinoHunt-brand crossbow (affectionately dubbed the “X-Bow” due to its unique design) has two target areas, called aiming pins. The top pin is sighted for 40 meters, and the bottom pin is sighted for 80 meters. Four fiberglass limbs propel bolts at high speeds, shattering through flesh and bone for clean kills. However, the X-Bow’s unique aiming mechanics make it tricky to use, but its high power and low volume make it a rewarding weapon of choice.
DinoHunt Rifle
The high-power DinoHunt rifle is a very powerful and fast-firing weapon. The targeting area for this rifle is the center of the aiming circle, giving it much more precision than the shotguns on the tour. Because it is so precise, however, it is not recommended in frantic, close-combat situations, and is strongly recommended as a medium-range weapon only.
DinoHunt Sniper Rifle
The DinoHunt sniper rifle is extremely accurate, and will shoot exactly where the crosshairs are placed. Its range goes as far as the binoculars, but is extremely narrow and claustrophobic. This is the last weapon you want against a charging carnivore, but for distance shots, accept no substitutes.
DinoHunt Revolver
Capable of downing large mammals on Earth, this heavy duty revolver can instantly down smaller animals with a well-placed shot. It works well as a quick-draw, self-defense weapon, but its limited ammo count and strong recoil can affect performance under stress, so use sparingly.
HUNTING ACCESSORIES
Tranquilizer
Tranquilizing an animal is an alternative to killing it. This will drop your pray where it stands with a quick-acting drug. Use of the Tranquilizer increases 25% of your total points acquired during that hunt, but you are unable to include a tranquilized animal in your trophy room.
Radar
This allows you to view the animals locations
on the map during your hunt. Animals are depicted on the map as yellow dots. Your location is shown as the red dot with a circle surrounding it. Please note that the map shows only animals you are hunting. All other animals are masked. Not using the radar feature adds 30% to your total points acquired during that hunt.
Cover Scent
This item allows you to mask your scent, reducing the likelihood of you being spotted. Use of the Cover Scent deducts 20% from your total points acquired during that hunt.
Camouflage
This special suit decreases the animal's ability to detect you by sight. Use of the Camouflage deducts 15% from your total points acquired during that hunt.
Photo Camera
With the help of Photo Camera you can take pictures in Hunt and Observer Mode. Enter Camera Roll in your Trophy Room to view, manage and share photos with your friends.
Note: Credits are deducted from your hunt with the use of certain items. To use any item, simply tap on a checkbox in the menu.
